Role in reducing CVD According to Dr Brewer:
- One study said it didn’t help: Relationship of lipoproteins to cardiovascular events: the AIM-HIGH Trial (Atherothrombosis Intervention in Metabolic Syndrome With Low HDL/High Triglycerides and Impact on Global Health Outcomes)
- Nethertheless, it is believed that Niacin:
- Improves Lp(a)
- Improves HDL
- Improves Triglycerides
- Improves LDL
- DrFB Recommends starting at 250 mg/day and up to 2 g/day
- 250 mg has reduced Lp(a) from 150 to 25 in some patients
